through out the mid west covered bridges can still be found. many of them still in operation. yep still drive cars across them !! all are historical land marks. built in the mid to late 1800's.at that time they were built by individual land owners of the area.By there own expense and labor. not by government agency's,or highway departments.many new relationships are carved into their timbers(years before krylon)most faded with time. many of these bridges have folk lore tales of lives taken on them also.as well, the ghost stories too fallow! I have crossed many of them at night, and thus far have not seen any aberration!!quite sure, I'm glad of that!!! all in all quite an undertaking too keep horses from spooking, and also too keep bad weather from making the crossing treacherous !!
hope you enjoy the painting !!
